Book: The breath we share: embodied and creative practices for a living and dying world

I am delighted to be contributing a chapter, In collaboration with Mugwort, written and created with my collaborator, Ann-Marie Fairbrother.

The breath we share: embodied and creative practices for a living and dying world will be published by art.earth later this year. The book is a collection of essays, poems, scores, performance documentation, theoretical text and experimental thought about eco-embodied creative practices. More than 50 authors from across the globe are contributing to this broad examination of how an eco-embodied practice can melt the distinctions between the felt and the reasoned (quoted from their announcement).

Here is the abstract of our chapter:

Katsura Isobe and Ann-Marie Fairbrother: In collaboration with Mugwort
The authors share a common love for Hackney Marshes in East London. There, Mugwort
(Artemisia vulgaris) grows wild. This piece explores the ways they developed their relationship
with mugwort, working towards the installation performance shared at the Sentient
Performativities symposium in 2022. This is a multimodal assemblage of reflections on this
process, on the performance itself, and on gleanings from the symposium presentation.
Keywords: plants, interspecies, Hackney Marches, performance
